Center for the Advancement of Healthcare Education and Delivery
Mission
To promote innovative solutions to improve health care education and health
care delivery.
The Center for the Advancement of Healthcare Education and Delivery (C-AHEAD) is
a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization designed to help small medical practices improve
health care delivery and health care education. Currently 75% of all physicians work in
medical practices of 5 physicians or less. C-AHEAD develops new and evaluates
existing health care delivery and educational strategies that encourage small medical
practices to adopt the six core principles for health care established by the Institute of
medicine:
  • Safe
  • Effective
  • Timely
  • Patient-centered
  • Equitable
  • Efficient
C-AHEAD develops and evaluates health care delivery and education strategies
through two primary mechanisms:
  • Initiatives: Multi-year, comprehensive programs where a number of themed
strategies are identified and developed, tested, and then disseminated to the
medical community. Initiatives are determined by the C-AHEAD board of
    directors.
  • Single program projects: These projects can consist of develop, evaluation,
testing, and or dissemination of health care education or delivery strategies.
Single program projects are determined by community physicians, patients, and
    health care providers.
Evaluation of health care delivery and education strategies is undertaken through:
  • C-AHEAD's research clinic Arbor Wellness
  • The C-AHEAD Practice-based Research Network
  • Through collaboration with medical practices
